Animal Companions

It is time for another fabulous Corrosive Challenges challenge.  The challenge is Animal Companions.  Your project must include an animal image.  We are sponsored by the amazing Delicious Doodles.  I am using two Delicious Doodles images...Pegasus and Ivy Fairy.  I wanted to put them in a meadow so I went for a canvas instead of doing a card.

I started by coloring my images with Copics and cutting them out.  I printed both images twice so I could pop up the fairy wings and one of the horse wings.  I also added some glitter glue to the wings for some sparkle. I grabbed a 5x7 canvas and coated it with gesso.  I began using acrylic paints and painted the sun.  The sky and the grass came next.  Once I had my base layer, I sponged on some texture doing the grass and greenery.  Then, using Mod Podge I glued Pegasus to the canvas and covered him with a thin layer of MP.  Then I did the same with Ivy.

After they were in place and dry, I added some modeling paste for more texture in front of the images.  I added some micro beads to the paste also.  After the paste was dry, I painted it with more acrylic paint.  My favorite part of this is the raised wings.  I used Helmar Scrap Dots to raise them up off the canvas.  I am going to say that this is one of my new favorite things to use.  When I was very young, one of my mother's friends bought me a paper crafting kit that had silicone gel in it for raising the layers of your project up.  I had totally forgotten about it until I came across Scrap Dots.  Welcome back old friend.

I hope you like it and I hope you head over to Corrosive Challenges to see what the rest of the amazing Design Team has created for your inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping by.
