OOGIE BOOGIE FUN!!!
It is time for another Burtonesque Dolls challenge. Okay, so what is Christmas without that Oogie Boogie right? Today we are challenging you to create the perfect Oogie Boogie project. We have a very special prize for you today, one very special Christmas Digi of that bug man himself Oogie Boogie... all decked out in Christmas gear! This will be an exclusive digi, will not be sold later and only a few of you will have the privilege of having this digi. Other special exclusive NBC sets to be given away later as well.
For my project, I used an amazing digi created by our own Suzi...woot woot!!! I colored him with Copic markers. The background paper, card stamps and poker chips are all from Stampin' Up! I added a Santa hat and some Christmas bulbs that I bought several years ago on clearance at Pat Catan's, my second home. I had a great time with this challenge and I hope you do too!
So what are you doing still reading this... get going! Have fun and make it Boogie!

The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge...LET'S SKETCH!

FAITH, TRUST & PIXIE DUST!
I tried to incorporate the rules for all of the challenges listed below so I started with the image which had to be a fairy, butterfly or angel. I found the image online and colored her with Copic markers and added some flower soft to the grass. I used stickles on her wings for a little sparkle. I also popped up her body with SU dimensionals. Those of you who follow my blog know that I have photography & scanner issues. Once again the picture doesn't show the dimensions very well.
Next I tried to incorporate the sketch for another challenge so that became my layout. Then there were some embossing challenges so I embossed the white background with a floral embossing folder from Cuttlebug. I used the folder for the blue strip on the left also. Then I put a white strip down the center and added some glitter dots to it. I used all generic cardstock, then I added a few embellishments and there you have it.
I found another challenge asking for clean and simple so I chose not to include a sentiment. I felt the card was cleaner without one. I gave it a good shot I think considering I did it fairly quickly. I was having trouble with my truck and ended up spending more time at the shop than I had planned. My poor truck had to remain hospitalized as it was "unsafe" to drive...so sad...so expensive.
Here is a list of all the challenges I am entering with this card:
1. 2 Sisters Challenge 11 - no designer paper
2. Flutter By Wednesday challenge #129 - use fairy/angel/butterfly and anything goes
3. Freshly Brewed Challenges - sketch and anything goes
4. Incy Wincy Designs #66 - anything goes
5. Dutch Dare Card Challenges - clean & simple
6. Craft your Passion Challenges - anything goes
7. Creative Cottage - #26 embossing
8. Lexi's Creations - #26 anything goes
9. C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - #75 dry embossing
Whew!!!! That's a lot to keep track of. Luck to all and thanks for stopping by.

ON THE 12TH DAY OF HALLOWEEN...
I made a crystal ball with bat wings. This is the front of the card. I used SBS Cassandra digi. I am partial to that one as it shares a name with my niece. I cut an acetate circle and added a hammered metal base. I embellished the base with a layer of black drippy goo and a layer of orange drippy goo courtesy of my MS drippy goo punch. I also added some MS cobwebs.
Here is the inside. I used a cloudy background for the inside of my crystal ball. You can't tell but there is a little cobweb at the top to cover where the bat head is on the outside. The sentiment is from SU and is one of my favorite ones. I added a couple of stars on the inside and there is also one on the acetate front.
The bat wings were cut out using my silhouette. I used pearl paper and added depth with Copic markers. Once again my photography skills failed me. The bat wings look fabulous in person.
Here is a close shot of Cassandra. I colored her with Copic markers. Green is my favorite color so I had to make her dress green. I gave her red hair in honor of my sister who is my Cassandra's mother.
I must take a moment to thank Betty. I had an absolutely wonderful time participating in these 12 challenges. I pushed myself harder than I thought I could and loved every minute of it. The grand prize winner won't be announced until November 5th. I feel sorry for my family and friends who must deal with me until then.
I must also take a moment to congratulate all who participated. You all were amazing. What a great group of people and such spectacular work. Good luck to all and thank you so much for stopping by.

ON THE 10TH DAY OF HALLOWEEN...
I know, I missed day 9. I just didn't have time to work it in but I am happy to jump back in. My cardstock is from SU and the background paper is from MM. If you look closely at the background, you can see that my words are upside down (accident) but I like it anyway. I cut out the webs with my Silhouette. For the image I used the Spiderella digi and colored her with Copic markers. I added some googly eyes to the spider. He is a cutie!!!
I had trouble with the scanner and the camera today again so this was the best shot I could get. The colors are much deeper than they appear in the picture. Someday I will get the hang of this. I hope you like it.
I am amazed at how many challenges are on the web. I don't know how most of the crafters can keep up with them. I am hoping to enter more in the future, I just need to learn time management.
Thanks for stopping by. FTPD

ON THE 8TH DAY OF HALLOWEEN...
I cut the cauldron out using my silhouette and shaded him with various SU inks and some Copics. The image is from Smeared Ink and it is called Build a Zombie. I LOVE it!!! I colored my zombie with Copics. I got quite a late start on this one and didn't get to it until about 9 pm. I am so glad I finished in time to enter it. Good luck to all and thanks for stopping by.

BERT'S ANGELS
Aunt Sylvia |
ME |
SUZ |
I am dedicating the above cards to Bert. His last name must remain a secret to protect the innocent. The Warrior Women images are from Barbara Jensen Designs. I colored each with Copic markers. I used minimal layering to not distract from the images themselves. Thanks for stopping by. xoxoxo

ON THE 7TH DAY OF HALLOWEEN...
I used a Bugaboo digi for the devil and the skeleton is from SU. I heat embossed him with white embossing powder. Here is a close up of the them.
The punches used for this are all MS (sorry to say). I used the bat, drippy glue and the cobweb border. I colored the devil with Copics and added some stickles to the flames for a little sparkle. The brads are from SU.

ON THE 5TH DAY OF HALLOWEEN...
I used my silhouette to cut out the pumpkins and colored them with SU markers for depth. The little witch is from SU. I colored her with Copic markers. I went for a Casper & Wendy feel for this one. I used vellum for the ghosts (thanks to Barbie for the idea) and double layered them. I wanted that transparent feel. The sentiment is also from SU. The cardstock is generic from I don't know where and the background is a spooky graveyard I found online.
I am also entering this in the SBC monthly scene it challenge. The challenge was to take inspiration from Sally & Linus in a pumpkin patch from It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Thanks for stopping by. xoxoxoxox

THINK PINK
The pyramid was my mother's idea. I found the image online and cut it out with some nesties. The bats are made from the shimmer black and the background paper. I cut them out with my MS bat punch. The sentiment is from SU. The flourish was left over from some graduation announcements I made for my niece.
Thanks for stopping by. xoxoxo

On the 3rd Day of Halloween...
This is day 3 of the Simply Betty 12 days of Halloween challenge. This was a great challenge. It took quite a while for me to finish and we only had 1 day to do it. Sally was the main rag doll image we had to use and she was given to the followers of Simply Betty. I decided to use Millerstein from Simply Betty as another rag doll. My third rag doll is from Sassy Studios designs (I hope that doesn't hurt my chances). All 3 had facial stitching and I thought they worked well together.
I made a box for the 3 dolls to arrive in. Unfortunately, I still haven't gotten the hang of taking a good picture. Here is a close-up of the box of dolls.
There is quite a bit of dimension to this card but most of it doesn't come through. One of these days I will figure out how to take a better picture. I used a couple of MS punches for the bat and the web borders. The Jack image I found online and I sponged a little ink around to add more depth. The green tissue paper is actual tissue paper. The rest of the cardstock is from SU and the images were colored with Copic markers.
Thanks for stopping by.

On the 2nd Day of Halloween.....
This is for the SBC & TBD 12 days of Halloween challenge. The top 12 were picked for day 1 and I made the cut! Now for day 2 we were challenged to do a card with 2 trick-or-treaters. I chose to use Millerstein and Jazzy. I colored them with Copics and popped them up with SU dimensionals. The background is actually my grandmother's house in Kentucky. I tried to think of a place that I wouldn't want to trick-or-treat at and her house was it. Since her passing it has really fallen apart and many family members believe it is haunted.
I put 3 dancing skeletons on the top and one on the side by a gravestone. The gravestone on the bottom right is actually a cupcake pick that I found at WalMart. I thought I could use them somehow in my crafting and a pack of 6 was only $1.79. I heat embossed the tree and owl image in gold to keep it subtle and spooky. The tree, pumpkin and sentiment are all from SU as is the cardstock. I added some spooky grass using my MS drippy goo punch and some soft suede ink.
Having only 1 day to complete each of the 12 projects is quite difficult for me. My time is very limited but I am going to try my best to get them in on time. It is a lot of fun! I wish everyone entering lots of luck.

MY SISTER HAS A BLOG!
Saturday, October 2, 2010
Hi all. This card is for 2 different challenges. The first is The Burtonesque Dolls challenge #20. The challenge was to use the sketch below created by Paper Addict Catherine who I had the pleasure of meeting back when we were both getting Copic certified.

Hello everyone. This week's Simply Betty Challenges challenge was to create a Halloween project without using traditional Halloween colors...no black, orange, purple or green. Being a green lover made this a difficult one for me. I think EVERYTHING should be green. I looked around for inspiration and decided to use blue and gold in honor of my very handsome blue and gold macaw, Ferguson.
The picture doesn't do Ferguson justice. His colors are sooooooooooo vibrant and amazing. I couldn't get the scanner to work tonight so unfortunately, the vibrant colors I used for the card don't show up very well either.
I used Simply Betty's Christian vamp digi and colored him in all blue using Copic markers. I don't think you can see very well in the picture but he is dimensional. I also used Azure Smooch on his cape for a little gloss. The haunted house is from SU as well as the sentiment. I heat embossed the house with a deep blue. I also used a Martha Stewart goo punch for the border. SU inks were used all over the background.

This card is for this week's Simply Betty Challenges challenge. Not only is it SBC's first challenge, but it is my first online challenge. I am soooooooooooo excited. The challenge was to use this picture of Betty's socks as inspiration.
You could use the pattern, colors or both. Obviously, I chose both. I used the Mina Digi from the Victorian Beauties. I started with glossy cardstock and printed the leopard spots. Then I put on my kindergarten scribbling hat and went to town with my Copic markers. After coloring, I printed Mina on the same paper and cut out parts of her dress to match the background. I colored the rest of her with Copic markers.

This hockey card is for one of the two best hockey players I know...Shawn Weissberg! He has been playing hockey since he was very little. His Gram wanted something super special for him and I was more than happy to create this. The digi I used was from KLM. The cardstock is from SU as are the brads. I used Gina K Pure Luxury for the hockey player and I colored him with Copic markers (my fave). The pattern paper is from my big box of scraps.

I recently made this birthday card for my crazy friend Lisa. This image just screamed LISA to me! I can even see her dressing up like this and going out on the town (lol). The digi I used for this is from Kenny K. I love his "Gothik Angelz". This one is Delores D'ammage. LUV her! I colored her with Copic markers. The cardstock is from SU and the pattern paper is digital (I think - I just had it in a pile of scraps).
Ok folks....here it is...my masterpiece. These are ACTUAL people and I am soooooooooo glad that you can actually tell. I was a little worried that this wouldn't turn out but I am happy to say that it did! I think it came out very well. I colored them with Copic markers (ok, maybe OVERcolored is a better way to say it - as the finish was coming off on the paper). I was looking at the actual picture of the family to do the coloring. It took me about two hours to complete the family. I made this card for a friend to give to her daughter. I think she is going to luv luv luv it!
Stamp - there is no stamp for the people. I used a floral background stamp form Rubber Neckers
Cardstock is from SU and Gina K Designs
Punches from SU & Die Cuts from Spellbinders
I belong to a craft group called 3FC. We give each other challenges once a month. This challenge was to have a flag somewhere on the card. I found the background image online and layered the rest. I thought she was really cute! The digi i used for this is called Patriotic Patty from Sassy Studio Designs and she was colored with Copics. I also used some nestabilities.
This little cutie is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. This was made for a lovely little girl named Isabelle. I felt Belle was the perfect image to use. I really love using digis for my projects. I can size them to whatever size I need for my projects. I have several of the fairytale girls.

Sorry it took me so long to update my blog. I have been quite a busy girl. This design hits home. I have a close friend that lost both her breasts a while back. She is a great lady and had recently became aquainted with a woman who was about to go through the same thing. I made this card for my friend to give to her new friend the day before her surgery.
