The Lighter Side of Burton

Today The Burtonesque Dolls are doing the "Lighter Side of Tim Burton".  We are using adorable Merkids from Simply Betty Stamps.  I am using Tiki.  I must admit I had some trouble here.  I am really not all that familiar with Burton's lighter side.  I only know the funky, quirky and dark Burton material.  I decided that part of The Nightmare Before Christmas could be considered lighter so I went with a Christmas theme.  If you ask any of my friends, I am all about Christmas.

I colored Tiki with Copics and added some liquid applique to give her a little fluff.  I used mostly scrap paper.  I am on a mission to use up all my scraps in the next two months.  My stash is getting out of hand.  My studio has spread into my bedroom.  It is so out of hand that my sister has spent several hours already trying to control it and contain it to one room.  What can I say?  The creative mind is a messy one!

Please hop over to TBD and see what the other have created and play along.   Then stop by Simply Betty Stamps and get your very own Merkids.  Thanks for stopping by.

The Chosen One!

Was it worth the wait?  I think so.  Here he is....Harry Potter himself!  Bianca thought of the perfect sentiment for this one right after I finished the card.  I am so bummed.  It was PERFECT for this image.  I am not going to tell you what it is.  I think I will just make another one and post it at a later time.

The Burtonesque Dolls have been so busy with these Funky Potters from Simply Betty Stamps.  Please make sure you check out what the other Design Team members have done.  The details for purchasing these amazing images are also posted at TBD

Thanks for stopping by.

Here comes a Slytherin!

The Burtonesque Dolls and Simply Betty Stamps bring you Miss Pansy Parkinson.  It is Funky Potters Preview Day #4.  I have to tell you that this one gave my mojo tons of grief.  I just couldn't get anything colored the way I wanted it on her.  I apologize for the short post but I am pooped!

Please hop over to TBD and see what the other Design Team members have done.  And don't forget to come back tomorrow when we preview everyone's favorite transfiguring professor.

Thanks for stopping by.

Apparating with Ron Weasley

Welcome to Funky Potters Preview Day #3.  Today The Burtonesque Dolls and Simply Betty Stamps welcome Ron Weasley.  It is also our challenge day.  Our challenge is to put Ron in a Tim Burton movie.  I had this really cute alien paper just begging to be used so I decided to put him in Mars Attacks.

What do you think?  I am liking this one a lot.  Please hop over to TBD and see what the rest of the design team has created and don't forget to check back tomorrow for the next Funky Potter.  The hint for tomorrow is Slytherin girl.

Thanks for stopping by.

Don't Mess with Ginny!

Today The Burtonesque Dolls and Simply Betty Stamps bring you Ginny Weasley.  Ginny is one in a long line of Weasley children at Hogwarts but she is the only girl.  Growing up with Fred and George, Ginny learned to take care of herself.  You never want to be on the receiving end of one of her "Bat-Bogey" hexes.

I am so loving these Funky Potter images.  I colored Ginny with Copics.  The bats are from a Martha Stewart punch as is the Drippy Goo border.  Get it?!  The goo represents the bogey part of the hex.  I distressed part of the card with some SU Caramel ink.

I hope you are enjoying Preview Day #2 of the Funky Potters.  Please hop over to TBD and see what the other Design Team members have done.  Also, check back tomorrow to see the next Funky Potter.  I will give you a hint...his spells don't work right when he breaks his wand.  See you tomorrow.

Oh, before I leave I was asked about purchasing these images.  Please check Simply Betty Stamps on Preview Day 6 for all the details.

Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome to Hogwarts!!!!

Today is Day #1 of The Burtonesque Dolls Preview of Funky Potters from Simply Betty Stamps.  I have a confession to make, I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan!  I originally read the first book when there was so much controversy over it.  I purchased it for my niece, Grace, and the family had heard it wasn't appropriate and was evil so I read it.  Once I did, there was no turning back for me.  I absolutely loved it!  I ended up reading every book in the series multiple times.

Meet Miss Hermione Granger.  For those of you who don't know, Hermione is a bit of a know-it-all but in a lovable way.  She is one of Harry Potter's best friends and the smartest in their class.  She reads every book she can get her hands on and her brain helps Harry get through some pretty rough times.

One of the first spells we remember Hermione for is "Alohomora" when she, Harry and Ron are trying to get through a locked door in The Sorcerer's Stone.  I colored her with Copics and used a Spellbinders banner die for the sentiment.  I knew I wanted a door on the card since "Alohomora" opens a locked door.  I cut it out of cardstock and my niece, Bianca, had the idea to angle it as if it was opened.  I used a great brad from Pizzazz Aplenty for the door.  Now I have a key leftover for another project as they were a set.  I popped Hermione up on Stampin' Up dimensionals.

Please stop over at TBD and check out what the rest of the Design Team has done.  These images are so fun to work with.  Thanks so much for stopping by and please check back for Funky Potter #2.  I will give you a hint...it is someone known for her Bat-Bogey Hex.  See you tomorrow.

Double Trouble!

The Burtonesque Dolls are seeing double today!  The challenge is to use 2 of the same image in one project.  I found this awesome stamp at the Adventures in Stamping convention this spring.  I was a little disappointed in the show this year but I still managed to spend lots of money.   So did my sister.

I stamped the image with Staz On Metallic Silver.  Way cool!!!!  Since this image makes such a statement I didn't want to add anything else to it other than the ribbon down the center.  I used black and pink cardstock with silver foil in between the layers.

Please stop over at TBD and see what the rest of the Design Team has created.  Thanks for stopping by.

Welcome Jude and the Rockers!!!!

Today is Preview Day 1 for Simply Betty Stamps new collection called Jude and the Rockers.  This is Jude.  He is such a cutie pie!!!!  SBS was kind enough to include The Burtonesque Dolls in this Simply Betty Stamps release.  I colored Jude with Copics and a little glitter glue.  He was so much fun to color.

The background paper was a Halloween leftover.  The other paper was from Bo Bunny and I got it 2 Halloweens ago.  I used my MS drippy goo punch on that one.  The ribbon is from my leftover collection as well.  I hope you like it.

Please check out what the Simply Betty Design Team has created for this release and check back tomorrow for Preview #2.  Thanks for stopping by!

Meet Ellanore!!!!

The Burtonesque Dolls are back for day 3 of the Burton-Weenies Preview.  Simply Betty Stamps sure did an awesome job with this collection.  The Dolls are combining this preview with our usual challenge.  The challenge is to put Ellanore in a Burton movie.  I chose to put her in Alice in Wonderland.  I couldn't resist.  I had this Wonderland paper left from another project so it was perfect.  I colored Ellanore (Alice) with Copics and popped her up with Stampin' Up dimensionals.

The sentiment is a rub-on I found at Big Lots.  I used my MS Drippy Goo border punch for the detail in the middle.  I colored the paper with distress ink.  Please pop over to TBD and see what everyone else has done and please play along.  All the details are over at TBD.

Thanks for stopping by.

Meet Belladonna!

Hi everyone!  It is Preview Day 2 for The Burtonesque Dolls and Simply Betty Stamps.  Today we bring you Belladonna from the Burton-Weenies.  She looks like she would be friends with my niece Becca.  In fact, this entire collection does.  I am sure Becca will be asking for these cards.

I colored Belladonna with Copic markers.  I was going for a Batman Pow kind of thing behind her.  I free hand cut it out of white and then matted it on black.  The image is also matted on black.  There is a hint of pink ink on it but it didn't show up in the picture.  All the paper was distressed with a Tim Holtz distress tool.  That doesn't show up well either.

I had so much fun coloring Belladonna and the others in this collection.  I hope you do too!

Please stop by TBD and check out what the others created.  Thanks for stopping by.

Meet the Burton-Weenies!!!!!

Hi everyone.  The Burtonesque Dolls are proud to announce another release from Simply Betty Stamps called Burton-Weenies!  The line comes out on Friday so you'll have to check back each day until then to see what is coming.  First we bring you JackJack.  Not my favorite name (long story) but very cool image.

I colored JackJack with Copic markers.  I found this cool background on the internet.  I loved the vibrant colors so I tried not to cover up too much of it.  The sentiment was a rub-on I found at Big Lots ages ago.  I really had fun with this one and even more so with the ones coming up.  I hope you check back tomorrow to see the next one.

Pop over to TBD and see what everyone else created.  Thanks for stopping by!

Monsters in the Factory!!

The Burtonesque Dolls have a problem this week.  The monsters have taken over Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.  We are sponsored by Strange Skin and we were given really cool images to work with.  Mine is the Bride of Frankenstein.  I colored her with Copics.  I popped up the bride and the screw heads with SU dimensionals.  The border punch is Drippy Goo from MS.  I didn't really have an appropriate chocolate factory sentiment so I just added happy haunting from SU.

I added green and purple to her skin but it doesn't really show up in this picture.  I wanted her nice and bruised.  Her hair is just out of control!

Please stop over at TBD and check out what the rest of the Design Team has created for you.

Thanks for stopping by!

Here comes Ginger!

It is day 4 of The Burtonesque Dolls and Simply Betty Sneak Peek.  Today we have Ginger.  Doesn't she look like she is up to something?  My niece has that same look in her eyes.  I won't mention which one I am talking about.  They will have to figure that one out themselves.

I enjoyed coloring this one a lot.  I started out making her African American but my color choices justs didn't work.  I recolored the flesh areas and paper pieced them to my original.  That wasn't fun.  I need a lot more practice.

Please stop over to TBD and see what the rest of the design team has created.

Thanks for stopping by!

Meet Marty and Lizzy!!!

It is Sneak Peek Day 3 for The Burtonesque Dolls and Simply Betty Stamps!  So sorry I missed yesterday.  To be honest...I did the wrong image.  So today I put yesterday's image, Lizzy, on a card with today's image, Marty.  Marty has his monkey friend on his shoulder and Lizzy is looking quite playful.

I colored them with Copics and popped them up on a free background I found online.  I lost the name of the site I got it from.  If I find it, I will post it in case anyone else wants it.

Don't you just love these pirates so far?  Pop over to TBD and see what the rest of the dolls have created for you and make sure you check back tomorrow for another sneak peek image.

Once again, I need to thank Alicia for taking my picture.  I have to brag about her online or she will stop!  Thanks Alicia.

Thanks for stopping by!

Pirate Sneak Peek....Bonnie!

The Burtonesque Dolls are doing a Sneak Peek with the help of Simply Betty Stamps.  Who doesn't love a good looking pirate?!  We are starting out Bonnie.  She is the first in the Funky Punky Pirate Collection.  I colored her with Copics.  I was going for a pink/black abstract theme on this one.  I just love the pink skull and crossbones on the background paper.  I popped Bonnie up with some SU dimensionals.  The ribbon is generic from my "box-o-scraps".  Thanks to Alicia for taking the picture again for me.

I can't wait to show you the 5 other images in this Funky Punky Pirate Collection...but you will have to wait.  You will have to come back tomorrow to see the next one.  Please stop over at TBD and see what the rest of the dolls have created for you.
