Corrosive Challenge #191 All Work and No Play

Good morning everyone.  I am back with another awesome challenge from Corrosive Challenges.  The challenge is titled All Work and No Play.  All you have to do to enter is use an image that depicts a job or career.  Our sponsor for this challenge is:

KennyK is one of my favorites.  I was so happy to join KennyK's Krafty Krew this year.  They were kind enough to supply the Corrosive Challenges design team with work related images.  I was given this wonderful soldier image.  I must say this image was quite challenging for me.  I don't usually do masculine cards and have never tried to color camouflage. It was much more difficult than I had anticipated.  I think I did a good job for my first try.  I would like to take just a moment to thank all the members of the military that put their lives on the line for us every single day.  Thank you all.

Please head over to Corrosive Challenges and check out what the rest of our amazing design team has created for your inspiration.  We can't wait to see what you create.  The prize for this challenge is 3 cool digital images from KennyK.  Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

My First KennyK Post!!!

Happy New Year again!.  This is my second post of the day and I have a big announcement.  I made KennyK's Krafty Krew.  I did very little crafting last year to give myself a break.  I am now ready to get back to business.  The first challenge for 2014 is Anything Goes with a optional twist of adding Sparkle.  I was so excited to start working with the Krew that I ended up making 3 cards before I got it the way I wanted it.

KennyK was one of the first companies I fell in love with the day I did my first search for digital images online.  My husband is a huge fan as well.  In fact, he actually picked out this image for me to work with.  I colored it in honor of my sister.  I also want to thank her for all the help she gives me.  I have a very busy schedule and am the most unorganized person on the planet.  Robin keeps me updated on challenges and online comings and goings.  Thanks Robin.  This image is like looking in a mirror for you isn't it?

The prize for this challenge is 3 digis, 5 if you incorporate the twist. Awesome right?

Please head over and check out what the rest of KennyK's Krafty Krew has created for your inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

New Beginnings

Happy New Year!!!  I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas.  I had a nice quiet one with my sister and niece.  My husband went to see his family so the three of us had lasagna and went to see a movie.  Very low-key and a lot of fun.  Now it's time to get back to business.  My first post of the year is for Corrosive Challenges and we are sponsored by A Day for Daisies.

We were given the opportunity to pick the image we wanted from ADFD.  The theme for this challenge is New Beginnings.  When I saw this image, I knew what I wanted to do right away.  My sister-in-law, Sherrie, and my brother are in the process of divorcing.  They have three beautiful daughters that we all love very much.  I am sorry to say that my brother seems to have forgotten he has children.  Sherrie and the girls will be just fine though.  They have each other and my sister and her daughter live with them as well.  All those women under one roof.  Holy cow.  I colored the images to look like them.  I wanted to include a picture of them but one of the girls, Kennedie, refused to pose.  Oh Kennedie!

The prize for this challenge is a $12 gift voucher.

Please head over to the Corrosive Challenges blog and check out what the design team has created for your inspiration.  Then join us in the challenge.  I can't wait to see what New Beginning you create.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day.

Last Corrosive Challenges Challenge of 2013

Welcome to everyone stopping by.  This is the very last challenge of 2013 for Corrosive Challenges.  I just want to say that I have had a great time crafting with the amazing Corrosive Design Team this year.  Crafting is my favorite way to release stress.  Well that and hanging out with my beautiful birds.

For this challenge we are sponsored by Lacy Sunshine Stamps.  Here is a little bit about the company:
Lacy Sunshine Stamps offers beautiful original and imaginative digital stamps for all your paper crafting needs.

All images from Lacy Sunshine are hand drawn and designed by myself, Heather Valentin, a professional artist, muralist and illustrator and my dad, professional artist, G.P.

From the art desk of Lacy Sunshine's creator....

"I am one who loves creating timeless pieces from my heart and soul, creating an extraordinary world filled with magic and whimsical friends.... one drawing at a time. Come journey with me now into my Lacy Sunshine World".
This is the first time I have used a Lacy Sunshine image but it certainly will not be the last.  The images are so stinking cute.  I was given Eleanor-Santa's Helper to work with.  She is so adorable.  I had a great time working with her.

I colored Eleanor with Copics, cut her out and popped her up with SU dimensionals.  I added Glossy Accents to her glasses and holly.  I used glitter glue on all the fur trim.  I made the tree using a Tim Holtz Alterations die call Pine Tree.  I stamped it with an SU background stamp.  If you look closely, you can see that I wasn't paying attention and stamped it upside down.  The sentiment stamp is also from SU.  I added Liquid Applique on the tree to bring a little snow into the card.  The white paper was embossed with a Sizzix snowflake embossing folder.  The fancy circle was made with a die from QuicKutz.  The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Happy Birthday Cassasha

Hello everyone.  Today I want to show you a project I made to audition for KennyK's Krafty Krew.  I love KennyK as I am sure all of you do as well.  When picking my image, I was thinking of my niece Cassasha.  She has the next birthday in our family.  Her birthday is just after Christmas and kind of gets lost in all the holiday plans.  I know I always post about my nieces (I have tons of them) but rarely talk about Cassasha.  Her name is really Cassandra but my other niece, Cortlynn, couldn't say Cassandra when she was little and she said Cassasha and it kind of stuck.  Cassandra is out of college now and is living all alone in North Carolina.  She is so far away.  We all miss her very much.

Now back to business.  The name of this image is Princess Pia.  I think it is adorable.  I colored Princess Pia with Copic markers, fussy cut it out and popped it up with pop dots.  I usually prefer SU dimensionals but I was too lazy to go upstairs to get a new pack.  I added glossy accents on the shoes, necklace, cat collar, lips and the tiara.  I also added glitter glue to the tiara.  I usually craft with a tiara on my head.  I know, I am a goofball.

The sentiment stamp is from SU.  The papers are all from my stash.  I used Copics to color some plain paper to match the colors in the image.  I used a Darice star embossing folder on the paper directly behind the image.  The ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I used a white gel pen to add some white dashes.  I had an issue with it.  It took a while to even get it flowing.  Please cross your fingers for me and head on over to KennyK to see the rest of the amazing entries.

One quick note before I go.  If you read my last post you know that little Layla (my great niece) was born early and was having some troubles.  She is out of the hospital and home at last.  Welcome home Layla.

Happy Holidays

Hello everyone.  Corrosive Challenges has another new challenge for you.  The theme this time is Happy Holidays.  We are sponsored by the awesome CC Designs.  Here is a little bit about the company.

C.C. Designs has been in business since 2007, started out of their garage. Now they have their own line of rubber stamps and dies. They create cuties galore, if you like cute you will love C.C.Designs.

I am using Mashi Muffins Tangled Tori from CC Designs.  I love this image.  This seems to happen to me every year.  I colored Tori with Copics, cut her out and popped her up with SU dimensionals.  I added Liquid Applique to the fur and Glossy Accents to the lights.  I looked and looked for a place to add glitter but couldn't figure it out so I left it off.  The ribbon is generic.  The Merry Christmas sentiment and die are from SU.  The card base was embossed using an Anna Griffin embossing folder.  I absolutely love Anna Griffin.

That's about it for the card.  On a personal note, I have a new great niece named Layla Faye Franklin.  Her middle name is after my late mother.  She came a little early and had some troubles but she is doing great.  I just wanted to show her off.  Here she is.

Isn't she precious?!  She is still in the hospital but should be going home soon.  I can't wait to hold her.  We don't live in the same state so I will have to schedule a trip down very soon.  Thank goodness for technology.  My niece has sent me lots of pictures and an adorable video.  Welcome to the family Layla.

Thanks for indulging me and for stopping by my blog.  Please head over to the Corrosive Challenges blog and see what the rest of the design team has created for your inspiration.

Tic-Tac-Toe Anyone?

Hello all.  I am back with another fabulous Corrosive Challenges challenge.  We are sponsored by The Paper Shelter.  This is a new company for me and so far I am loving them.   I got the beautiful flight attendant to work with.  The challenge is to use this Tic-Tac-Toe board to create your project.

I used the middle row.  I used an EK Punch for the gold pieces (I also embossed them with a star folder from Darice), the flight attendant is my Image and I used a metal airplane charm from Blue Moon for the Metal or Charm square.  I made the background paper with some SU ink and a cloud template I cut out of a piece of scrap paper.  My sister told me to put her in the clouds so I did.  As far as the shoes go, I was going to color them black but my very stylish pregnant niece said if she were the flight attendant she would wear red shoes.  I asked why and she said "because I am sexy".

Please head over to Corrosive Challenges and see what the rest of the design team has created for your inspiration.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Happy Birthday Bestie!

Hi all.  I am back with another awesome challenge for Corrosive Challenges.  This time we are sponsored by Sassy Studio Designs, one that is near and dear to my heart.  The challenge is Dress Me Up, you must use an image that has a costume in it.  The one I chose is the Sassy Flying Monkey, from SSD of course.  I love the Wizard of Oz and couldn't wait to use this image.

This one is for my bestie Suzanne (Please don't be jealous Babs and Cathy).  Normally I wouldn't give out a woman's age, but this year is a special one for Suzanne.  She will be turning Forty-Sexy (that's what she calls 46) in just a few days.  I beat her to it by 5 months.  Happy Birthday Suz!!!!

I used Copics to color the image and popped it up with pop dots.  I usually use SU dimensionals but I couldn't find them.  If you came in my house right now you would know why I couldn't find them.  I wasn't happy with how the wings came out so I covered them up with glitter glue.  The paper is from Graphic 45.  The sentiment is an in and out stamp from Art Gone Wild.  I chose to put both on the front and a birthday wish on the inside.  I embossed the tag using a folder from Darice.

Please head over to Corrosive Challenges and check out what the design team has created for your inspiration.  You won't be disappointed.  I have already seen them and feel very humbled to be on a team with such talented people.

Happy Birthday Jeffrey!

Here is a quick post to say happy birthday to an old friend.  My 8 year old junior bestie Sarah picked the image for her uncle.  She knew she wanted someone playing air guitar.  I have not had the pleasure of watching Jeff play but look forward to seeing it in the future.

The image is from Mo's Digital Pencil.  You can always find something great at Mo's.  I colored him with Copics, cut him out and popped him up with SU dimensionals.  The stars were made using Spellbinders dies.  I kept it simple since men usually don't like all the foo foo stuff.  I hope Jeff likes it.  Today is his birthday but Sarah won't be giving it to him until the end of the month when she sees him.  No worries though, I am positive he doesn't check my blog.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Birthday Bailey Bug Boggs

Hi everyone.  Today I am back with another challenge from Corrosive Challenges.  Our current challenge theme is Cute and Creepy.  Our sponsor is the awesome Dilly Beans and I decided this would be the perfect chance to make my great niece Bailey's birthday card so here it is.

I used Isabella Fairy from Dilly Beans as the focal image for this card.  Even though my little Bailey Bug is only turning 5, she already has a style and I think I have totally captured it...CUTE & CREEPY.  Her mother is a huge Tim Burton fan and loves Nightmare Before Christmas.  She has passed her loves on to Bailey.  Her birthday is November 1st and she wants to have a Halloween themed party.  She picked out a Frankenweenie cake.  She just loves that kind of stuff.  Here is a picture of Bailey last Halloween.

Isn't she a doll?  Now back to business.  I colored Isabella with Copics, cut her out and popped her up on SU dimensionals, except the wings.  I taped those behind her for more dimension.  All the solid pink paper was done by using a Copic marker so it would match Isabella's hair.  The main background paper is from Bo Bunny.  The others were from my box-o'-scraps.  The sentiment and the punches used for it are all from SU.

Robin and Bianca came over today.  Robin worked on one of her cards while I worked on this one.  We had a great time.  Bianca, not so much.  She had to clean out the bird cages today.  The birds appreciated it very much as did I.

Please head over to Corrosive Challenges and see what the rest of the design team has created for your inspiration.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Birthday Rhonda Sue!

Hi everyone.  I am back with another fabulous challenge from Corrosive Challenges.  Our current challenge is Mother, Maiden, Crone...all you have to do is make a project containing a woman.  We are sponsored by Delicious Doodles, one of my absolute favorite companies.  I was provided with this amazing image called Angelique.  Isn't she gorgeous!!!  I decided she was perfect for my little sister's birthday.  She is totally Rhonda's style.  I hope I remember to mail it.  I actually still have my sister Robin's card from last year that I never gave her.  We laughed about it a few days ago on her birthday.  I did actually did give her a card this year though.  Rhonda's birthday isn't for a few weeks so for once, I am ahead.

I colored Angelique with Copics.  She is popped up on SU dimensionals.  I added some glitter glue to her wings, eye shadow & jewelry.  She used to have a snowflake by her hair but I messed it up so I added a circle with a gem piece from Prima to cover it up.  The background paper is from Paper Pizazz.  The ribbon is leftover from a party favor kit I bought last year.  The green and orange paper was colored with Copics so it would match the coloring on the image.  I did the corners with my corner chomper.

Please head over to Corrosive Challenges and check out what the rest of the Design Team has done for your inspiration.  Then join us, won't you?  I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
