JUST FOR FUN...SCENE IT!

Hi all.  This week at The Burtonesque Dolls we are doing a JUST FOR FUN challenge.  That means there is not a prize and we are doing it just for fun.  It is a SCENE IT challenge.  The object is to use this scene from Alice in Wonderland as your inspiration:

Here is my attempt at it:

I know, I know...I used pink and black last week.  I guess I am just in a pink and black funk.  My background is from a guilty pleasure I have, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.  One of these extremely rich women held an Alice in Wonderland tea party for her daughter.  She is only 4.  This woman spent $60,000 on this party complete with diamond Barbie necklaces for all 25 of the little girls.  It must be nice to have that much money!

Anyway, I started with a picture from that party.  I then added some flowersoft to the arrangements on the table.  I used the White Rabbit image I got from Sassy Studio Designs and colored her with Copics.  I added white flocking to the bunny ears.  I used liquid applique on her tail.  All the papers are generic.  The teacup was just a clipart picture.  The various ribbons were just leftovers from other projects.

You have seen mine, now let's see yours!  I can't wait!

The Burtonesque Dolls Challenge...LET'S SKETCH!

I am so excited to announce that I made The Burtonesque Dolls Design Team!!!   Woooo Hoooo!!!!
This is my first official DT post.  Here goes....

It's a sketch this week for The Burtonesque Dolls challenge.
This week the Dolls have a great sketch created by Cheri over at Simply Betty Challenges, so grab your papers, embellies and images and leave the design to us.  Use this sketch as your inspiration and let loose.

Here's the best part, you get to do all the creative stuff since the design is done for you!!!  How fun is that?!
You are free to use any image you want but don't forget to add your Burtonesque style.

Here is mine:

My image is from Sassy Studio Designs and I colored it with Copics (of course).  I got the paper at Joann's.  My niece, Alicia, decided this should be pink and boy oh boy is it.  I can't wait to see what you come up with and please be sure to check out what the Design Team has created at TBD!

FAITH, TRUST & PIXIE DUST!

After living through the Simply Betty Challenges 12 Days of Halloween I thought I would try something else I hadn't done before.  I am attempting to enter several challenges with one card.  I noticed quite a few bloggers doing this so I am going to give it a try.  Here is my card:

I tried to incorporate the rules for all of the challenges listed below so I started with the image which had to be a fairy, butterfly or angel.  I found the image online and colored her with Copic markers and added some flower soft to the grass.  I used stickles on her wings for a little sparkle.  I also popped up her body with SU dimensionals.  Those of you who follow my blog know that I have photography & scanner issues.  Once again the picture doesn't show the dimensions very well.

Next I tried to incorporate the sketch for another challenge so that became my layout.  Then there were some embossing challenges so I embossed the white background with a floral embossing folder from Cuttlebug.  I used the folder for the blue strip on the left also.  Then I put a white strip down the center and added some glitter dots to it.  I used all generic cardstock, then I added a few embellishments and there you have it.

I found another challenge asking for clean and simple so I chose not to include a sentiment.  I felt the card was cleaner without one.  I gave it a good shot I think considering I did it fairly quickly.  I was having trouble with my truck and ended up spending more time at the shop than I had planned.  My poor truck had to remain hospitalized as it was "unsafe" to drive...so sad...so expensive.

Here is a list of all the challenges I am entering with this card:

1.  2 Sisters Challenge 11 - no designer paper
2.  Flutter By Wednesday challenge #129 - use fairy/angel/butterfly and anything goes
3.  Freshly Brewed Challenges - sketch and anything goes
4.  Incy Wincy Designs #66 - anything goes
5.  Dutch Dare Card Challenges - clean & simple
6.  Craft your Passion Challenges - anything goes
7.  Creative Cottage - #26 embossing
8.  Lexi's Creations - #26 anything goes
9.  C.R.A.F.T. Challenge - #75 dry embossing

Whew!!!! That's a lot to keep track of.  Luck to all and thanks for stopping by.

ON THE 12TH DAY OF HALLOWEEN...

...my ghoul love gave to me, 12 witches cackling.  Simply Betty Challenges gave us our last Halloween challenge which was to use witches in our project.  Here is my entry:

I made a crystal ball with bat wings.  This is the front of the card.  I used SBS Cassandra digi.  I am partial to that one as it shares a name with my niece.  I cut an acetate circle and added a hammered metal base.  I embellished the base with a layer of black drippy goo and a layer of orange drippy goo courtesy of my MS drippy goo punch.  I also added some MS cobwebs.

Here is the inside.  I used a cloudy background for the inside of my crystal ball.  You can't tell but there is a little cobweb at the top to cover where the bat head is on the outside.  The sentiment is from SU and is one of my favorite ones.  I added a couple of stars on the inside and there is also one on the acetate front.

The bat wings were cut out using my silhouette.  I used pearl paper and added depth with Copic markers.  Once again my photography skills failed me.  The bat wings look fabulous in person.

Here is a close shot of Cassandra.  I colored her with Copic markers.  Green is my favorite color so I had to make her dress green.  I gave her red hair in honor of my sister who is my Cassandra's mother.

I must take a moment to thank Betty.  I had an absolutely wonderful time participating in these 12 challenges.  I pushed myself harder than I thought I could and loved every minute of it.  The grand prize winner won't be announced until November 5th.  I feel sorry for my family and friends who must deal with me until then.

I must also take a moment to congratulate all who participated.  You all were amazing.  What a great group of people and such spectacular work.  Good luck to all and thank you so much for stopping by.
